Creative Idea Floods

It seems that ideas flood my head once I leave my desk. I can work at my desk and think over problems that I want to solve but ideas don't come to mind so easily. Sure, sometimes they do but most of the time I can step away from my desk to take a walk or shoot basketball and ideas just start pouring in. By the way, the problems that I solve are design problems or visual communication problems. Creativity just like ideas come in clumps, sometimes floods. I carry a small composition notebook with me at all times to jot down these ideas and when I get back to my desk I look them over. Sometimes I start implementing the idea immediately and other times I let the idea simmer for a while. From time to time I think back over the last ten years at all of the ideas that I have let go of. The ideas that I never even wrote down and gave birth to that tiny spark of inspiration. This is why I write a lot of stuff down now but even so I still don't catch all of the wonderful ideas flying around in my head. We are living in a wonderful time where grand ideas combined with creativity can be accomplished if it is back with enough passion and desire. |
